Healthy Easy Overnight Oats (Print Page)

Creamy oats layered with fresh strawberries and chia seeds for a nourishing start.

# What You Need:

→ Oats Base

01 - 1 cup rolled oats
02 - 1 cup milk (dairy or unsweetened plant-based)
03 - 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt or coconut yogurt for dairy-free option
04 - 2 tablespoons chia seeds
05 - 2 teaspoons honey or pure maple syrup
06 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

→ Fruit Layer

07 - 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced

→ Toppings

08 - 2 tablespoons chopped almonds or walnuts
09 - 1 tablespoon unsweetened coconut flakes
10 - Extra sliced strawberries for garnish

# Directions:

01 - In a medium bowl or jar, combine rolled oats, milk, Greek yogurt, chia seeds, honey or maple syrup, and vanilla extract. Stir thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
02 - Gently fold in the sliced strawberries into the oat mixture, distributing them evenly throughout.
03 - Cover the bowl or jar and refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight to allow the oats and chia seeds to absorb the liquid and achieve a creamy texture.
04 - In the morning, stir the oat mixture thoroughly. If the consistency is too thick, add additional milk a splash at a time until reaching your desired texture.
05 - Spoon the overnight oats into bowls or jars. Top with additional sliced strawberries, chopped nuts, and coconut flakes as desired. Serve chilled.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • You literally do the work the night before, so breakfast becomes a non-negotiable act of self-care instead of another morning scramble.
  • It tastes like dessert but actually fuels your body with protein and fiber that keeps you satisfied until lunch.
  • One bowl, minimal cleanup, and somehow it feels fancier than anything you could throw together in five minutes.
02 -
  • Don't skip the stirring step in the morning because the bottom can get dense and the top can separate, and mixing it back together takes thirty seconds but completely changes the eating experience.
  • If you're meal prepping multiple jars, keep the strawberries separate and add them in the morning or they'll stain everything pink and lose their shape, which isn't bad but it's not as pretty.
03 -
  • Let the jar sit at room temperature for ten minutes before eating if you like it slightly less cold, because that's when the flavors really open up.
  • If you're making these for the week, add a tiny squeeze of lemon juice to the strawberries to keep them from browning, which is a trick I learned from someone's grandmother and it actually works.
